Tense Standoff Erupts at Chattogram Polling Station

-

A tense confrontation erupted between Dr. Abu Naser, the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Chattogram-8, and local BNP activists at the Khalashi Pukurpar Government Primary School polling station on Wednesday evening. The incident unfolded at approximately 8:30 pm when Dr. Naser and his followers arrived at the polling station, only to be met with objections from the nearby BNP leaders and supporters. The disagreement quickly escalated into a heated dispute.

Assistant Commissioner Bidhan Abid of Pachlaish Zone, CMP, confirmed the incident and stated that Dr. Abu Naser was confronted by local BNP members upon his arrival at the polling center. Law enforcement officers and military personnel swiftly intervened to defuse the situation and ensure Dr. Naser’s safety as he was escorted away from the scene.

BNP’s polling center coordinator, Mahbubul Alam, alleged to the press that Dr. Naser and his supporters attempted to enter the center to distribute money. Conversely, Dr. Naser claimed that he was the victim of an attack, asserting that BNP activists assaulted him as he passed by the polling station.
