Tea plantation worker found dead, hands tied in Moulvibazar

Police found the body of a tea plantation worker, whose hands and feet were tied, in a tea garden in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar yesterday. The deceased, identified as Ratan Shuvo Kar, 28, was a worker at Champara Tea Garden in Islampur union, according to Kamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Awal. The body was discovered by locals around 10:00 am, who then informed the police.

Residents noticed visible injuries on the body, which was also covered in blood. Some locals suspected that Ratan might have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in the garden. Ratan’s elder brother, Laxman Kar, mentioned that the family had been searching for him since the previous night.

“We were told this morning that his body was found in the garden. Upon reaching the spot, we confirmed his identity. The reason behind his killing is unknown to us,” Laxman said. The body was taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
