College student’s body found in Padma River

-

The Padma river in Munshiganj’s Louhajang upazila was the site where the body of a college student was recovered yesterday. Identified as Abu Naim, the son of Raihan Uddin from Natore, he was a second-year student studying Civil and Marine Engineering at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).

According to fire service sources, the body was located approximately 40 feet underwater, roughly 500 yards away from Pillar-4 of the Padma Bridge. Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, the deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, reported that on Saturday, a group of 18 MIST students took a boat trip to visit the Padma Bridge. During the outing, three students decided to swim in the river. While two of them successfully returned to the boat, Naim went missing and could not be located.
