“Bangladesh Bank Mandates Women-Friendly Restrooms”

-

The Bangladesh Bank has issued a new mandate to all scheduled banks in the country, requiring them to ensure the availability of women-friendly restroom facilities at their main offices, regional sites, and branches. The central bank emphasized the importance of having adequate washrooms for female staff and customers, citing the current lack of facilities as a hindrance to creating a welcoming environment for women. Banks are now tasked with constructing, upgrading, and upkeeping clean restrooms that are stocked with essential sanitary items for women. This directive, enforced under Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991, is now in effect.
