Md Sabbir Hossain, a highly experienced banker, has assumed the role of additional managing director (AMD) and chief operating officer at Bank Asia PLC, starting January 1, 2026. Before his appointment at Bank Asia, he served as the deputy managing director and chief operating officer at BRAC Bank PLC. During his tenure at BRAC Bank, Hossain showcased exceptional leadership in various areas including information technology, operations, sustainable finance, digital transformation, and process re-engineering.
Hossain embarked on his banking career in 1994 at ANZ Grindlays Bank, later transitioning to Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). He then held the position of country head of operations and technology at Citibank NA, followed by the role of chief operations officer at MetLife Bangladesh.
With over thirty years of thriving experience in the banking sector, Hossain has a strong background in technology, operations, digital transformation, and process re-engineering. He holds a degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and an MBA from North South University.
