“Prof Yunus Urges Armed Forces for Expertise in Upcoming Bangladesh Election”

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus emphasized the significance of the upcoming national election, scheduled for February next year, in Bangladesh’s democratic evolution. Addressing members of the Armed Forces during a reception at Senakunja, he urged them to execute their responsibilities with expertise and professionalism to ensure a seamless and celebratory electoral process.

Prof Yunus highlighted Bangladesh’s commitment to peaceful relations with all nations while stressing the necessity of safeguarding the country’s sovereignty against external threats. Efforts are underway to modernize the armed forces, improve training, and integrate advanced technology to align with global standards.

Reflecting on the pivotal role played by the Army, Navy, and Air Force during the Liberation War in 1971, Prof Yunus commended their joint efforts in securing Bangladesh’s independence. He lauded the Armed Forces for their continued support during national crises and ongoing initiatives for reconstruction and reform.

Acknowledging Bangladesh’s peacekeeping achievements, Prof Yunus praised the dedication of the Armed Forces in completing numerous missions worldwide. He highlighted the country’s significant contribution of women peacekeepers, underscoring its reputation as a reliable partner in international peacekeeping endeavors.

Expressing gratitude to the Armed Forces members and foreign diplomats for their support, Prof Yunus emphasized the importance of providing adequate training and equipment to Bangladeshi peacekeepers for effective operations in challenging environments. He also reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to collaborating with global peacekeeping efforts under the United Nations umbrella.

During the Armed Forces Day celebrations, Prof Yunus honored Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman with the Senabahini Padak (SBP) and unveiled the Bangladesh Armed Forces Training Compendium cover. The chief adviser assured full support to the United Nations in its endeavors for global peace and security.
