“Immediate Arrests Ordered After Attacks on Baul Community”

-

The Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, announced today that immediate arrests have been ordered for those responsible for the recent attacks on members of the Baul community.

Alam stated that the Chief Adviser has instructed for the swift arrest of all individuals involved in the assaults on the Bauls. He mentioned that the police are already in action following the directive, ensuring prompt progress.

Discussing the Rohingya crisis, Alam highlighted that the current administration has brought the issue back to the forefront of global attention, which was previously neglected by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He criticized Hasina for prioritizing her public image as the “Mother of Humanity” instead of addressing the root causes of the crisis, ultimately leading to a loss of global focus on the actual problems.

In contrast, Alam praised the interim government’s efforts in reestablishing international engagement through diplomatic initiatives, conferences, and direct advocacy. He expressed confidence that these endeavors would yield positive outcomes, emphasizing that diplomatic processes take time to materialize.

Addressing questions, he mentioned the Chief Adviser’s optimism about the potential return of Rohingyas around Eid but cautioned that diplomatic resolutions require patience for tangible results to emerge.

Alam clarified that discussions in the recent meeting did not involve elections or any advisers considering future electoral participation. On the subject of building safety and regulation, he highlighted significant disparities across the country, underscoring the need for stricter monitoring given the prevalence of unapproved structures.

Emphasizing the Chief Adviser’s stance, Alam stressed that all construction projects in Bangladesh must receive proper approval to ensure compliance with regulations. He added that the government is actively enhancing regulatory frameworks in all city corporations to address these concerns.
