“Bangladesh Urges Pakistan’s Support for Historical Research”

Mahfuj Alam, an advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has called on Pakistan to support Bangladeshi researchers keen on exploring the historical events spanning from 1947 to 1971 during the era of East Pakistan. The request was made during a meeting between the advisor and Pakistan’s High Commissioner Imran Haider, as per a statement released by the ministry.

Alam highlighted the interest of many researchers in Bangladesh to delve into the day-to-day socio-economic occurrences of the former East Pakistan period. He emphasized the importance of accessing relevant historical documents stored in Pakistan’s archives for this research purpose, urging the high commissioner to facilitate the process.

During the meeting, both parties expressed a shared commitment to enhancing collaborative efforts for media development in their respective countries. Additionally, they deliberated on various socio-economic issues affecting Bangladesh and Pakistan, showcasing a mutual interest in strengthening bilateral relations.
