Bangladesh’s renowned singer, Runa Laila, takes center stage in an upcoming novel titled “Mayar Singhasan” penned by esteemed fiction author Abdullah Al Muktadir. The book delves into her ascent within the country’s music scene, chronicling her artistic evolution, personal challenges, and cultural significance.

In an interview with bdnews24.com, Muktadir characterized the work as a unique “song-novel” that intertwines storytelling with a musical essence. He expressed how Runa Laila’s voice transports him to a bygone era where music reigned supreme, stating that “Mayar Singhasan” encapsulates that transformative journey.

Set to be launched on November 17 by Chandrabindu Prokashan, the novel has already garnered attention. In a video message, Runa Laila extended an invitation to readers, saying, “This novel delves into my life story; I hope it resonates with you. Give it a read.”

Described by the publisher as more than a traditional novel, “Mayar Singhasan” aims to immerse readers in the emotional and psychological realms of Runa Laila’s musical legacy. It navigates through time, love, solitude, and the evocative nature of melody. The author’s writing is said to transcend words into a melodic symphony, mirroring the rhythms and sentiments of the singer’s iconic songs.

Positioned as a significant addition to Bengali literature’s evolving “song-novel” genre, the book promises a unique literary voyage.
