Brad Pitt has escalated his ongoing legal battle with Angelina Jolie by filing fresh court documents against his former spouse regarding the sale of their French estate and winery, Château Miraval. Pitt’s legal representatives recently presented new evidence to the court, including email communications between Jolie’s lawyers and his team concerning her 2021 sale of her stake in the winery, an action Pitt alleges breaches their previous agreement.
A key exhibit includes a November 2023 email from Jolie’s legal team in response to Pitt’s claim for $35 million in damages. According to the email, Jolie’s attorneys argue that the burden of producing documents lies with Pitt due to his damages claim. Additionally, Jolie’s team asserted that Pitt is seeking ongoing damages related to Miraval’s operations while withholding specific documents linked to a four-year non-disclosure agreement covering his personal behavior.
The legal dispute originated in 2022 when Pitt accused Jolie of selling her portion of Château Miraval to a third party without his consent, despite an alleged understanding that neither party could sell their stake without mutual approval. Jolie has claimed attorney-client privilege over contested documents, a move Pitt’s legal team deems inappropriate. Pitt is now reiterating his request for 22 specific documents that he claims are being withheld.
The upcoming court hearing for this case is scheduled for December 17. Following their separation in 2016 after a 12-year relationship and two years of marriage, Pitt and Jolie, parents to six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox — finalized their divorce in December 2024. However, their legal battles concerning business and custody matters persist.
