“OpenAI Expects Revenue to Surpass $20 Billion by 2025”

-

OpenAI’s CFO, Sarah Friar, has recently disclosed that the company’s projected revenue for 2025 has exceeded $20 billion, a substantial rise from $6 billion in the previous year. Friar, in a blog post, highlighted that the revenue surge aligned with an expansion in computational capacity, which surged to 1.9 gigawatts in 2025 from 0.6 gigawatts in the prior year. She also noted a consistent increase in the number of weekly and daily active users.

The financial update comes on the heels of OpenAI’s decision to introduce advertisements to select US users of ChatGPT as a means to bolster revenue for its advanced technology initiatives. Moreover, a report by Axios indicated that OpenAI’s policy head mentioned that the company is progressing as planned to launch its inaugural consumer device in the latter part of 2026.

Looking forward, Friar outlined OpenAI’s forthcoming strategies, emphasizing a focus on AI agents and process automation. In the upcoming year, the company aims to prioritize the practical application of its technology, particularly in the realms of healthcare, scientific research, and business sectors. Friar highlighted OpenAI’s agile financial approach, noting strategic collaborations with external entities instead of owning infrastructure, enabling adaptability across various hardware providers.
