Sir Michael Caine Eyeing Return to Big Screen with “The Last Witch Hunter” Sequel

-

Sir Michael Caine is reportedly gearing up to end his retirement for a sequel to “The Last Witch Hunter.” The 92-year-old actor is reportedly in discussions to reprise his role alongside Vin Diesel, a long-time friend, as Lionsgate and Diesel’s One Race Films expedite the project.

Caine, who originally portrayed Dolan, a supportive priest to Diesel’s immortal warrior Kaulder, is anticipated to revisit his character after a decade since the 2015 film. Despite the initial movie’s modest performance in North America, raking in $27 million, it achieved greater success internationally, grossing $119 million.

This development is noteworthy following Caine’s retirement announcement in 2023 after his final appearance in “The Great Escaper.” Despite intending to conclude his career on a high note, the chance to revisit a beloved role appears to have enticed him back.

The friendship between Caine and Diesel dates back over thirty years, originating from a dinner gathering in the early 1990s. Their enduring bond was recently highlighted by a joint appearance in London, adding weight to the speculation surrounding the sequel.

Caine’s illustrious career spans more than eight decades, featuring iconic films like “The Italian Job,” “The Dark Knight trilogy,” and “The Cider House Rules.” Knighted in 2000, he remains a revered figure in British cinema. Should the sequel be confirmed, it will not only signify his return to the silver screen but also reunite him with Diesel in a supernatural realm of camaraderie, loyalty, and grand battles.
