“Bashundhara Kings Defender Leaves Over Unpaid Salaries”

-

Bashundhara Kings’ center-back Tariq Kazi has officially ended his association with the club, pointing to unpaid salaries as the reason for his decision. Tariq made this announcement via a Facebook post on Friday, stating that he had terminated his contract with the team due to outstanding salary dues.

A 25-year-old footballer from Bangladesh, Tariq has represented his country 33 times and became a Bangladeshi citizen after moving from Finland. He joined the five-time champions of the Bangladesh Premier League in 2019 and has since been a key figure in defense for both his club and the national team, contributing to four league victories with the Kings.

Efforts to contact any officials from Bashundhara Kings regarding this matter have been unsuccessful.

In his statement, the Finnish-born player discussed the challenges he faced over the past year, emphasizing the difficulties caused by irregular and delayed payments, which took a toll on both his finances and emotions. Tariq expressed his appreciation for his fellow players, coaches, and supporters, as well as the national team, for their continuous backing.

He highlighted the need for more transparency and fairness in Bangladeshi football, noting that numerous local players are grappling with similar issues of financial negligence. Tariq ended his message on a positive note, expressing gratitude for the valuable moments he experienced during his time with Bashundhara Kings and looking forward to the future with optimism.
