Hilary Duff plans music comeback and docuseries after a decade

-

Hilary Duff is officially making her return to music after a ten-year hiatus. Yesterday, the actress and singer revealed that she has signed with Atlantic Records and will soon release new songs — her first since the 2015 album “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” Now 37, Duff says she is ready to continue the musical journey she once paused.

Alongside new music, Duff is working on a docuseries that will chronicle her return to the industry. Directed and executive-produced by Sam Wrench, the project will capture her personal and professional journey, highlighting “the ups, downs, and everything in between.” Viewers will see her balancing family life with recording sessions, rehearsals, and the anxieties of stepping back on stage after a decade.

The series — titled “Because That’s What Dreams Are Made Of” — nods to her Disney Channel days and the iconic anthem fans still cherish. It will blend interviews, live performances, and archival footage from Duff’s personal collection.

Duff previewed the project on Instagram with three photos: one of her in casual jeans and a T-shirt, another holding a phone with lyrics beside her headphones, and a third embracing her husband, musician Matthew Koma, in the studio. She captioned the post, “new music … or something.”

This comeback has been hinted at in recent months. In August, Duff marked the 22nd anniversary of her debut album Metamorphosis with a nostalgic post, writing, “Although these are distant memories for me, thank you for showing up the way that you did. To be continued….” In June, she also reflected on the tenth anniversary of Breathe In. Breathe Out., acknowledging it didn’t achieve huge commercial success but still felt authentic to her artistry.

With new music on the horizon and a behind-the-scenes look at her life, Hilary Duff’s return promises to be both nostalgic and fresh for longtime fans and new listeners alike.
