A woman in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj has filed a case alleging rape inside a microbus. The victim lodged a formal complaint with Siddhirganj Police Station earlier today, naming six men as the perpetrators, as confirmed by Shahinur Alam, the officer-in-charge of the police station. The case details indicate that one of the individuals committed the assault while the others assisted in the crime, the OC further explained. To maintain the integrity of the investigation, the identities of the accused have not been revealed, as mentioned by the police official. The victim has undergone a medical examination at Narayanganj General Hospital following the incident.
The case narrative reveals that the victim was acquainted with the accused as they resided in the same neighborhood. In 2017, the victim’s mother borrowed Tk 4 lakh from one of the individuals, and the loan was entirely repaid by 2022. However, the lender allegedly refused to return a non-judicial stamp that the victim’s mother had provided as collateral. On a Friday afternoon, one of the accused lured her to the Signboard area under the pretense of returning the document. Subsequently, she was coerced into a microbus and transported to a secluded location in Jalkuri Doshpipe, where the assault took place inside the vehicle. Following the ordeal, she was purportedly abandoned near the Signboard area by the perpetrators.
Efforts are underway by the police to apprehend the suspects, as confirmed by the OC.
