A new platform called Home Theatre was officially inaugurated today at the Bangladesh Film Archive, showcasing its first production “Nari, Tumi Awaaj Tolo”. Directed by Abu Raihan Jewel, the short film features Sadia Afreen Mahi and Somu Chowdhury, among others.

Home Theatre is focused on presenting short films, musical films, and documentary films with a core mission of raising social awareness and advocating for positive change.

The premiere short film delves into issues such as anti-social behavior, mistreatment, injustice, and discrimination against women. It aims to amplify the voices of women and cultivate a collective consciousness on gender-related challenges.

The launch ceremony attracted key personalities from the film and theatre industry in Bangladesh, including notable figures like Shahiduzzaman Selim, the president of the Directors Guild; Azad Abul Kalam, the president of Actors’ Equity; directors Chayanika Chowdhury and Sakal Ahmed; as well as artists Imtiaz Barshan and Prasun Azad. Their participation was seen as a source of encouragement for aspiring filmmakers dedicated to socially relevant storytelling.

Described by organizers as more than just a platform, Home Theatre is positioned as a movement that aims to present films that inspire social change.
