An auto-rickshaw driver was fatally stabbed in the throat in Rajshahi’s Mohanpur upazila on the evening of the previous day. Despite his injury, he managed to drive nearly three kilometers before collapsing at a local market. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Fazlur Rahman from Amritpur village in Tanore upazila, passed away while receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, according to police reports.
Authorities suspect that the attack was carried out by criminals aiming to steal his battery-operated auto-rickshaw. Eyewitnesses, as mentioned by Nurul Islam, a sub-inspector at Mohanpur Police Station, reported that Fazlur bravely drove his auto-rickshaw to Kesharhat Bazar despite sustaining a severe stab wound to his throat. Evidence of bloodstains in the Shialkola area indicates that the assault occurred there.
Remarkably, Fazlur managed to cover approximately three kilometers before reaching Kesharhat Bazar, where locals noticed his critical condition and promptly took him to the Upazila Health Complex. Subsequently, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries around 10:00 pm on the same day. Following an autopsy, the police released the body to the family.
Although the family has not yet filed a case, the authorities have been informed that they plan to do so soon.
