“Nakshikathar Jamin” Set for OTT Release After Theatrical Debut

-

Akram Khan’s acclaimed film “Nakshikathar Jamin,” which garnered praise at global film festivals, made its theatrical debut nationwide on December 27 last year. The movie is now gearing up for its upcoming release on an OTT platform.

Adapted from the renowned writer Hasan Azizul Haque’s narrative “Bidhobader Kotha,” the film delves into the tumultuous events of the 1971 Liberation War.

Scheduled for streaming on iScreen by the end of this month, “Nakshi Kathar Jamin” revolves around the poignant tale of two sisters, Rahela and Saleha, portrayed by Jaya Ahsan and Fariha Shams Sheuti. The ensemble cast also features Iresh Zaker, Rawnak Hasan, Dibya Joyti, Shoumya Joyti, among others.

The movie sheds light on the sacrifices made by women during the Liberation War, showcasing the grim reality of killings, the surge of animosity even within families, and the domestic turmoil that unfolded between conflicting brothers and their offspring. Amidst this turbulent setting, the emotional connection, vulnerability, and resilience of the two sisters take center stage.

Having clinched the Best Film accolade at the Bengaluru International Film Festival in India, “Nakshikathar Jamin” was also a contender for the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
