A recent collaboration between Apple and Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake resulted in a popular new iPhone accessory, the iPhone Pocket, which quickly sold out after its launch. The knitted pouch, designed to hold an iPhone and small items like AirPods, features a unique ribbed texture inspired by Issey Miyake’s signature pleating techniques. Priced between $150 and $230 based on strap length, the accessory offers multiple wearing options, including hand-carrying, bag attachment, or direct body wear.
The limited availability of the iPhone Pocket, with only ten physical stores worldwide stocking the product, led to its swift depletion. Locations such as New York’s SoHo, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Milan saw queues forming, and reports indicate stores selling out within minutes of opening, with online stocks also running out rapidly.
This release reflects Apple’s growing focus on phone accessories, following the introduction of a cross-body strap last September, transforming the iPhone into a stylish mini handbag. The collaboration with Issey Miyake not only showcases the brand’s design legacy but also ties back to its historical link with Apple, notably through Steve Jobs’ iconic black turtlenecks, also created by the fashion house.
