“Typhoon Bualoi Death Toll Tops 50 in Vietnam”

-

Vietnam’s government announced on Friday that the death toll from Typhoon Bualoi has surpassed 50, while over a dozen individuals remain missing following the storm’s devastating impact. Bualoi made landfall in central Vietnam late last Sunday, packing winds of 130 kilometers (80 miles) per hour and persisting over the region for nearly 12 hours.

The torrential rainfall brought on by the typhoon caused severe flooding in Hanoi, leading to extensive damage across the country, including over 200,000 homes, public infrastructure, and farmland affected by floods and landslides. The Ministry of Environment estimated that the total cost of destruction resulting from Typhoon Bualoi could reach as high as $600 million.
