“Bangladesh Women’s Football Coach Calls for Discipline After Loss”

-

Bangladesh’s women’s football team coach, Peter Butler, has expressed frustration and disappointment towards some of his players for what he perceives as disrespectful behavior following a 3-0 loss to Thailand in the first of two FIFA international friendly matches. Thailand, ranked 51 places above Bangladesh in the FIFA rankings, dominated the game, scoring early and securing a comfortable victory despite goalkeeper Rupna Chakma’s efforts to prevent a larger goal margin.

The match, held at a university ground in Bangkok, has left Butler questioning the nature and conditions of the fixture. In a video message shared by the Bangladesh Football Federation, Butler raised concerns about the match setting, highlighting inadequate lighting and questioning whether it felt like a proper national team game or more like a developmental fixture. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all aspects of the game meet the required standards.

Butler did not shy away from criticizing some players for their attitude and lack of discipline. He emphasized the need for a professional mindset among those representing the national team, stating that he will not tolerate any form of complacency or disrespect. The coach, who previously took action against senior players in a boycott controversy, reiterated his stance on maintaining discipline within the team.

Looking ahead to the second friendly against Thailand on Monday, Butler is expecting a stronger performance from his players and will be looking for a more positive response on the field.
