Netflix fans urged to watch ‘bittersweet’ documentary six years after star’s tragic death
Netflix’s Avicii: I’m Tim documentary has been a hit with subscribers, who have urged others to watch the ‘bittersweet’ film, which includes never-before-seen footage of the late DJ.
Netflix users have been encouraged to tune into a new ‘bittersweet’ documentary that tells ‘one of the saddest stories ever.’
The documentary, Avicii: I’m Tim, was released on New Year’s Eve and has rapidly ascended the streaming platform’s most-watched charts, winning over fans of the late DJ.
This 95-minute film delves into the life of Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, charting his rise to stardom before his untimely death in 2018.
Avicii provides narration for the film from his perspective, offering a glimpse into his life off-stage. The documentary also features previously unseen footage from the Swedish star’s life and interviews with his colleagues, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
The Stockholm-born artist dominated the EDM scene in the 2010s with chart-topping hits like Wake Me Up and Levels, but he battled health and addiction issues behind the scenes, reports the Daily Record.

The DJ’s personal battles were also highlighted by fans, including an X user who shared: “Avicii’s documentary on Netflix is one of the saddest stories I have ever watched.”
One Reddit user confessed: “I really enjoyed the ‘I’m Tim’ documentary. Very well done.”
The same sentiment continued: “And to watch the last show after that was…bittersweet. Sad that Tim just wanted to make music and the success of his music became too much for him.”
Now a trending hit, positioned seventh on Netflix’s top films list, Avicii: I’m Tim dropped simultaneously with a special on his final concert called Avicii: My Last Show.
That iconic last gig went down on 28 August 2016, at Ibiza’s hotspot, the Ushuaia Hotel. While that set marked Avicii’s live swan song, he didn’t stop creating.
He continued to produce music until his untimely death in April 2018.
Avicii – I’m Tim and Avicii: My Last Show are streaming now on Netflix.
