Australia secured first place by defeating South Africa in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match. This victory means they will face India, who are in fourth place, in the second semifinal on October 30 at Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This will be the first time the two teams meet in a Cricket World Cup semifinal since their encounter in the 2017 tournament.
South Africa will now play against England in the other semifinal at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on October 29. England claimed the second spot in the standings after beating New Zealand on the final day, pushing South Africa to third place.
The winners of the two semifinals will compete for the World Cup trophy on November 2. In a match on Saturday in Indore, Australia successfully chased down a target of 98 with seven wickets in hand, thanks to a remarkable bowling performance by Alana King. This victory was their sixth in the league stage, with a shared point from a match against Sri Lanka.
Australia, a seven-time champion, remains the only undefeated team in the tournament. Their previous clash against India in Indore saw them chasing a record total to strengthen their position in the standings. India enters the semifinals after a strong all-around performance against New Zealand, securing their place in the knockout stage.
