Nuhash Humayun’s “Waqt” Chosen for SXSW Sydney

-

Nuhash Humayun’s “Waqt” episode from the anthology series “Dui Shaw” has been chosen for the Episodic segment of the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) Sydney festival, commencing on October 13th. Premiering last December, “Waqt” co-written by Gultekin Khan and Nuhash, delves into the dark journey of five friends whose wrongdoings lead to eerie and supernatural outcomes.

The ensemble cast includes Allen Shubhro, Rizvi Rizu, Refat Hasan, Abdullah Al Sentu, Rafayatullah Sohan, Saikat, Sahana Sumi, and Yashrib Habib. Nuhash expressed his delight in the positive reception the project received from both festival organizers and local viewers, a rare occurrence where both sides have embraced the episode.

Apart from “Waqt,” the anthology features three other narratives – “Bhaggo Bhalo,” “Beshura,” and “Antara.” Gultekin Khan, making her screenwriting debut with “Waqt,” shared her initial fears and subsequent collaboration with Nuhash in crafting the story.

Following the success of the acclaimed series “Pett Kata Shaw,” which secured the Best International Feature at the Raindance Film Festival’s Jury Awards in 2022 and screened at Rotterdam, “Dui Shaw” continues Nuhash’s streak. The series was also showcased at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada this July.

With notable projects like “Moshari” and “Foreigners Only” under his belt, Nuhash’s selection at SXSW Sydney highlights his expanding global influence and the growing prominence of Bangladeshi streaming content on the international stage.
