“Cox’s Bazar Rally Demands Music Education in Schools”

-

Artistic individuals and cultural advocates in Cox’s Bazar organized a demonstration today urging the appointment of music and physical education instructors in primary schools. The gathering took place at 4:00 pm outside the Cox’s Bazar Municipality office, led by the group “Cox’s Bazar-er Bikkhubdho Shilpibrindo” (Aggrieved Artists of Cox’s Bazar). Local artists, educators, and culture supporters participated in the event.

During the demonstration, speakers emphasized that the exclusion of music and physical education teacher positions in primary schools would impede children’s artistic growth. They expressed concerns that this decision could not only impact the educational system but also have broader societal repercussions.

Sourav Dev, the general secretary of Udichi Shilpigoshthi Cox’s Bazar, emphasized the importance of nurturing children with artistic skills to foster a compassionate generation. He advocated for subjects like music, fine arts, and dance to be mandatory at the primary level.

Md Jasim Uddin, the general secretary of the district unit of Khelaghar Ashor, highlighted that art, literature, and culture form the bedrock of civilization. He warned that the elimination of music education from primary schooling could weaken this foundation.

Tarpana Dey, Udichi’s treasurer, stressed the significance of music and physical education alongside science in shaping children’s creativity and sensitivity. She argued that neglecting these areas would stifle children’s development.

Khorshed Alam, the president of Satyen Sen Shilpigoshthi Cox’s Bazar, issued a warning that the advocacy efforts would escalate if music and physical education teaching positions were not promptly reinstated.

The event, overseen by Monir Mobarak, the general secretary of Satyen Sen Shilpigoshthi, featured speeches from Khan Asaduzzaman Masum, president of the Central Jubo Union, Subimal Pal Panna, president of Khelaghar Cox’s Bazar, as well as student leader Md Arif, among other participants.
