Theatre Factory’s Tribute Festival: “Komola Rong er Bodh”

-

Theatre Factory will be hosting a festival named “Jibanananda Das Smaronutshob o Theatre Factory-er Astham Prothisthaborshiki” spanning from October 18 to 22 to pay tribute to the poet’s heritage and the theater group’s eight-year expedition. The festival kicks off on October 18 at Mohila Samity with a presentation of “Komola Rong er Bodh,” a theatrical piece crafted and helmed by Alok Basu. This play, inspired by the life and creations of Jibanananda Das, presents a poetic representation of the modernist poet using fragments of memories, philosophical musings, and emotional depth.

Alok Basu, discussing the production, expressed, “In memory of Jibanananda Das, we will showcase three performances of ‘Komola Rong er Bodh’. On the 19th, an event called ‘Our Jibanananda’ will be held where invitees will share their personal insights on the poet. Following each nightly performance, esteemed guests will delve into his life and poetry. Our objective is to celebrate his subtle genius through the art of theater.”

The commemorative event on October 20 will bring together Theatre Factory members and performers from various troupes. The festival will wrap up with two extra shows of “Komola Rong er Bodh” on October 21 and 22 at the Experimental Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Established in 2017, Theatre Factory has presented five productions during its eight-year voyage. Reflecting on the odyssey, Alok Basu remarked, “Our initial aspiration was to create impactful theatrical works that would endure in people’s memories. We aimed beyond mere stage performances, viewing each project as a labor of affection, perseverance, and significance.”
