The upcoming film “Deshlai” delves into the modern experiences shaped by the youth of Bangladesh and India, highlighting the increasing impact of the internet. It is set to debut at the prestigious Tasveer Film Festival in Seattle, USA, as the closing feature on October 12.

Directed by renowned Indian filmmaker Quashiq Mukherjee, known as Q for his work on “Gandu,” “Deshlai” centers around Zewel, a young TikTok personality aspiring to fame. Zewel, along with his brother Jibon, toils as daily wage laborers and harbors ambitions of joining an influencer company in Qatar. However, their plans are derailed when Jibon gets involved in drug dealing, plunging Zewel into financial struggles. His journey takes an unexpected turn as he ventures into India, where he encounters further challenges.

Originally titled Zewel during filming, the movie was later rebranded as “Deshlai.” The cast features Sizu Shahriar, Priyam Archi, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, Sayan Ghosh, Roddur Roy, Amit Rudra, and Rahi Abdullah.

Director Q shared on social media about the film’s global premiere, emphasizing its relevance to the current era with characters like Zewel embodying the essence of 2025. The narrative, inspired by a short story from Surajit Sen, reflects the essence of bittersweet experiences. Priyam Archi will represent the “Deshlai” team at the festival, with production credits going to Odd Joint, Chorki from Bangladesh, Luminary Pictures from the USA, Dreams on Cell, and Platoon Films.
