Paramount+ has officially given the green light for a second season of “Dexter: Resurrection,” with Michael C Hall announcing the news in a video posted on the show’s official YouTube channel.
The revival of the popular crime drama, which premiered earlier this year, features Hall reprising his well-known role as Dexter Morgan, a conflicted forensic analyst turned serial killer. Hall personally shared the exciting update with fans, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support.
In a brief 39-second clip, Hall conveyed his appreciation to viewers, stating, “First of all, I just want to thank all the fans for tuning in and taking the ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ ride this summer. We’ve been greenlit for another season — there’s more to come. The writer’s room is assembling now, and I wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues.”
Variety reported that Paramount initiated a writers’ room for the highly awaited sequel in August, igniting discussions about a renewal.
The debut season of “Dexter: Resurrection” proved to be a major success for Paramount+, attracting 4.4 million viewers across various platforms upon its July premiere. Currently holding the fifth spot on IMDb’s list of top TV shows and boasting a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show has garnered significant acclaim, according to Showmax Stories.
The cast of the series includes Michael C Hall, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suarez, James Remar, and Uma Thurman.
Originally concluding in 2013 after eight seasons, the Dexter franchise saw a resurgence in 2021 with the miniseries “Dexter: New Blood” and the prequel “Dexter: Original Sin.”
With the confirmation of “Dexter: Resurrection” for a second season, fans are eagerly speculating on the future direction of Dexter’s narrative and the progression of his enigmatic dark passenger.
