“Trump Optimistic on Gaza Peace Talks Progress”

-

US President Donald Trump expressed optimism on Tuesday, stating that a potential Gaza peace agreement was within reach as Hamas and Israeli negotiators engaged in indirect discussions on the anniversary of the October 7 attack. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump highlighted the progress, mentioning that negotiations were ongoing in Egypt with the involvement of US representatives, including special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner as confirmed by the White House on Monday.

Trump emphasized the potential for a breakthrough, stating, “There’s a real chance that we could do something,” and expressing the broader aim of achieving peace in the Middle East beyond the Gaza context. He underscored the urgency of resolving the conflict, stressing the need for the immediate release of hostages.

Detailing the international support for the peace efforts, Trump mentioned the involvement of various countries and affirmed the commitment of the United States to ensure compliance with any agreement that may be reached between Hamas and Israel to cease hostilities.

The President reiterated the dedication of the United States to facilitate the peace process, emphasizing, “We will do everything possible to make sure everyone adheres to the deal” if a ceasefire is established to bring an end to the conflict.
