Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie are slated to co-star in the forthcoming prequel to the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise by Warner Bros. This new addition to the stylish heist series will precede the 2001 hit film directed by Steven Soderbergh, featuring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts. The original movie, a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack classic “Ocean’s 11,” follows a group of con artists pulling off a massive heist in Las Vegas casinos, which turned out to be both a critical and commercial success, leading to two sequels and a female-led spinoff.
The prequel will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung, renowned for his work on “Twisters” and the Oscar-nominated “Minari,” stepping in for Jay Roach. The script, written by Carrie Solomon, is anticipated to be set in 1960s Europe, adding a glamorous and retro touch to the franchise’s trademark high-stakes heist scenarios.
Although the official title is yet to be revealed, fans are already speculating about the next number in the series. With “Ocean’s Twelve,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” and “Ocean’s Eight” already in existence, it remains to be seen how Robbie and Cooper’s prequel will be distinguished, especially with George Clooney hinting at a potential “Ocean’s Fourteen” with Damon, Pitt, and Roberts possibly starting production next year.
Apart from his role in the upcoming prequel, Cooper’s next directorial venture titled “Is This Thing On?” is a dramatic comedy inspired by the life of British comedian John Bishop, set to debut at the New York Film Festival. Starring Will Arnett and Laura Dern, this film marks Cooper’s third directorial project following “A Star Is Born” and “Maestro.”
Recognized as one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors, Cooper has delivered notable performances in films like “The Hangover,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle,” and “American Sniper.”
