“Tanzid Hasan Tamim Takes Blame for Bangladesh’s T20I Loss”

-

Bangladesh’s opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim shouldered the responsibility for his team’s loss in the second T20I against the West Indies in Chattogram. Tanzid acknowledged that he should have stayed until the end to secure the win on a challenging pitch where new batsmen found it hard to settle in quickly.

Bangladesh appeared on track to chase down the target of 150 as they reached 117-3 in the 17th over, with Tanzid anchoring the innings on 61 runs. However, his dismissal in the 18th over, trying to cut a wide delivery, led to a collapse. Jaker Ali Anik’s struggle compounded Bangladesh’s woes, and they fell short by 14 runs, losing the series 2-0.

Tanzid expressed disappointment at the team’s batting collapse and emphasized that the target was achievable despite the pitch conditions. On the other hand, West Indies’ opener Alick Athanaze, who contributed 52 runs, highlighted the strong batting conditions and praised his bowlers for defending the target effectively.

The loss ended Bangladesh’s four-match winning streak in T20Is, while the West Indies secured their first series victory in the format after three consecutive losses. Athanaze expressed the West Indies’ desire to clinch the series with a 3-0 result in the remaining match.
