“NCP Leader Nahid Islam Unveils Vision for Inclusive Governance”

-

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam stated that there would be no dissenting opinions in the upcoming July Charter. Speaking at the inauguration of the University Teachers’ Forum (UTF) at Bangla Academy in Dhaka, Nahid emphasized that the decisions made through consensus would be upheld, with the ultimate verdict left to the people. He expressed the intention to progress towards an election based on the legal framework outlined in the July Charter, aiming to advance Bangladesh while honoring the essence of the uprising.

Nahid underscored the importance of inclusivity, advocating for the representation of all individuals involved in the mass uprising in the forthcoming parliament. He proposed the formation of a reform council within the parliament to drive the establishment of a new constitution, stressing the pivotal role that teachers must play in this transformative process. The NCP, he assured, would strive to facilitate their active involvement.

Highlighting the diverse composition of the envisioned governing bodies, Nahid outlined plans to incorporate young people, teachers, religious leaders, women, minorities, and professionals from various sectors to actualize the objectives outlined in the July Charter. He emphasized that Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus should issue the July Charter order in alignment with the aspirations of the mass uprising, underscoring the necessity for unanimous support without dissent.

Nahid expressed the nation’s fervent anticipation for change, cautioning that the success of the uprising, the upcoming election, and the consensus commission hinges on this imperative transformation. He warned against allowing specific groups or political entities to exclusively benefit from the uprising, emphasizing the need for genuine and widespread change.

During the event, the central convening committee of the UTF was unveiled, with Prof. Md Sirajul Islam from Dhaka University appointed as the convener and Prof. Shamim Hamidi from Dhaka International University named as the member secretary. Several teachers from different universities also delivered speeches at the gathering.
