“BRAC Bank Sponsors Tk 99 Lakh for Women’s Hockey Tournament”

-

BRAC Bank has pledged a sponsorship of Tk 99 lakh for the upcoming Brac Bank Oporajeyo Alo Women’s Hockey Tournament, which will further enhance the flourishing women’s hockey landscape in Bangladesh. The tournament, set to commence next month, will showcase competition among 18 district teams from four zones – Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Cumilla, and Jashore. The champions from each zone will advance to the final round in Dhaka alongside BKSP in December.

This sponsorship signifies BRAC Bank’s second significant collaboration with the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF), with a previous partnership involving a women’s development tournament. Ekram Kabir, the bank’s chief communication officer, highlighted during a recent media briefing that this initiative reflects their corporate social responsibility commitment to promoting women in sports. Additionally, the bank intends to continue its support until 2026–27, with potential plans to provide player stipends in the future.

Reazul Hasan, the General Secretary of BHF, expressed appreciation for the support, emphasizing that all players will be equipped with kits, gear, and necessary essentials. Furthermore, BHF will cover the expenses for transportation, accommodation, and meals for all participating teams. Hasan also mentioned the organization’s aspiration to include women’s hockey in the Asian Games qualifiers, indicating a positive outlook for the sport’s future.
