Chanchal Chowdhury Begins Filming “Shekor” in Tollywood

-

Chanchal Chowdhury has commenced filming for his newest project in the Tollywood industry called “Shekor”, under the direction of renowned filmmaker Bratya Basu. The production recently started, with Chanchal joining the set in Birbhum, Kolkata on Monday.

Based on the short stories “Drabmoyeer Kashibash” and “Dadu” by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, “Shekor” delves into the lives of elderly individuals from two rural communities. Actor Loknath Dey takes on the role of the elderly man, while Seema Biswas portrays the elderly woman. Chanchal portrays Loknath’s son, with Poulami Basu playing his wife.

In an interview with the Indian press, Chanchal revealed his personal connection to the film’s narrative, particularly the depiction of a father-son relationship. He shared, “The character of my on-screen father resonates deeply with me as my own father suffered from dementia, forgetting everything within moments during his later years.” Additionally, Chanchal expressed his admiration for working with Bratya Basu, stating, “Collaborating with Bratya Da is a comforting experience that truly captivates me.”

Chanchal also expressed his fondness for the filming location in Birbhum, reminiscing about his rural roots. Despite currently residing in Dhaka, he emphasized his strong bond with village life, saying, “I have a profound connection to villages, as I am a village boy at heart. Riding a bicycle through rural paths for the film brings back a flood of old memories, constantly transporting me to my past.”

The ensemble cast of “Shekor” includes Ambarish Bhattacharya, Riddhi Sen, Angana Roy, Anasuya Majumdar, Anujay Chattopadhyay, and Narayan Goswami. Produced by Firdausul Hasan, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release in March of the following year.
