Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has partnered with Google Cloud to introduce “Secret Mountain,” an AI-powered virtual band that combines music, storytelling, and state-of-the-art technology to offer an immersive entertainment venture.
Conceptualized by Rahman, “Secret Mountain” merges lifelike metahuman avatars with innovative soundscapes and story-based performances. The band comprises six digital avatars, featuring characters like Cara, an Irish singer-songwriter; Zen Tam, a Tamil rapper; and Blessing, an African percussionist and vocalist, each embodying unique cultural and musical backgrounds.
Rahman expressed, “Secret Mountain aims to revolutionize the fusion of music, storytelling, and technology to craft fresh experiences for global audiences. Having a tech giant such as Google as our collaborator is both thrilling and empowering. Together, we are constructing a daring new realm of entertainment where human creativity and AI technology unite to inspire audiences worldwide.”
The initiative leverages Google Cloud’s AI ecosystem, employing Veo 3 for avatar embodiment and video production, Imagen and Gemini Flash 2.5 Image for visual content, and Gemini 2.5 Pro as the avatars’ interactive “brain,” enabling real-time fan engagement and adaptable performances.
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted that this partnership underscores India’s increasing impact in creative AI. He emphasized that by utilizing Google Cloud’s infrastructure and advanced AI models, Secret Mountain not only delivers a captivating interactive digital experience but also ensures the integration of security, scalability, and governance.
Through “Secret Mountain,” A.R. Rahman continues to expand the horizons of sound and technology, positioning India as a frontrunner in the global AI music evolution.
