The Cumilla district administration honored the 135th death anniversary of Fakir Lalon Shah with a series of programs, showcasing his enduring spiritual philosophy and humanist values through cultural displays and dialogues. In an event held on Friday evening at the Bir Muktijoddha Rafiqul Islam Open Stage in the Town Hall Field, Deputy Commissioner Md Amirul Kayes lauded Fakir Lalon Shah’s legacy as a beacon of humanism, secularism, and mystic spirituality deeply ingrained in Bengali culture. Emphasizing Lalon’s teachings on humanity transcending barriers of caste, religion, and lineage, the chief guest highlighted the philosopher-saint’s timeless influence on secular ideology. The evening was highlighted by mesmerizing performances by Baul artiste Sumi Haider and various local Baul and Lalon singers, captivating the audience with their heartfelt melodies. The event also saw the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Islam and Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md Saiful Malik as esteemed guests. The gathering included officials from the district and police administrations, cultural enthusiasts, educators, students, and media representatives.
