“Jamaat-e-Islami Vows to Empower Bangladesh’s Hindu Community”

-

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar expressed that governments in Bangladesh have historically exploited the Hindu community for their own gains. Speaking at a gathering in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila, he emphasized the need for an Islamic government to promote the welfare of the Hindu community and enhance infrastructure in Dumuria, Phultala, and nationwide. Porwar assured that Jamaat-e-Islami, if in power, would tackle issues like terrorism, extortion, and land-grabbing effectively.

Porwar highlighted the long-standing exploitation of the Hindu community over the past 54 years by ruling entities in the country. He underscored the desire for change and emphasized the symbolic significance of Jamaat-e-Islami’s electoral scale in bringing about this transformation, contrasting it with the symbols of other political parties.

Advocating for a referendum in November to implement the July charter followed by national elections in February, Porwar drew attention to the call for change resonating among university students and the general populace. Babu Krishna Nandi, president of the upazila Hindu committee of Jamaat, urged support for Jamaat’s electoral symbol for victory.

Sudipta Kumar Sundar Mondal, president of the Matua Sangha, expressed the community’s aspiration to be recognized as Bangladeshi citizens rather than a minority group. He criticized past governments for failing to address the needs of the Hindu community and asserted that the upcoming elections would demonstrate that Hindus are not aligned with any specific political party.

Following the gathering, a procession moved through various streets in Dumuria town to further advocate for the causes discussed.
