Anthropic, an artificial intelligence firm, has disclosed its intention to triple its global workforce this year due to the increasing demand for its Claude AI models worldwide, according to a recent Reuters report. The company also plans to boost its applied AI team by five times as part of its worldwide expansion strategy.
As per the Reuters report, nearly 80% of Claude’s consumer usage now originates from countries outside the US, with notable engagement observed in regions such as South Korea, Australia, and Singapore. Over the past two years, Anthropic has experienced significant growth in its business customer base, which has surged from fewer than 1,000 to over 300,000.
In its efforts to expand globally, Anthropic is set to inaugurate its inaugural Asian office in Tokyo and establish additional offices in Europe, creating more than 100 new positions across key locations like Dublin, London, and Zurich. This expansion drive follows a substantial revenue increase, with the company’s run-rate soaring from around $1 billion to over $5 billion from January to August.
The recent announcement closely follows a collaboration agreement with Microsoft to incorporate Claude models into its Copilot assistant, broadening Anthropic’s partnership scope beyond its existing backers, Amazon and Alphabet.
