Money’s attraction and the ensuing disorder are at the forefront of “Taka”, an upcoming dark-comedy thriller crafted by Tarek Rahman. Featuring Farhan Ahmed Jovan and Keya Payel, the movie delves into themes of greed, temptation, and the ethical compromises individuals make in their quest for riches — a pertinent subject in contemporary Bangladesh.
Director Tarek Rahman, recognized for his unconventional narrative style, aims to introduce a unique offering to the local entertainment scene with “Taka”. He expressed that in Bangladesh, the dark-comedy thriller genre is relatively unexplored, stating that the film intertwines psychological suspense with humor to examine the impact of desire on moral standards.
Jovan tackles a multifaceted role — blending satire with a psychological character study — portraying a man entangled in ambition and deception. His character epitomizes the thin boundary between desperation and absurdity, with Keya Payel partnering with him as the co-lead, infusing emotional complexity into the narrative of power dynamics, avarice, and treachery.
The ensemble cast includes Shiba Shanu, Don, Arman Parvez Murad, A K Azad Setu, Parvez Suman, and Saimum Sajid. Cinematographer Sumon Hossain shapes the film’s visual ambiance, while Saeed Nafis handles the music composition, Kamruzzaman Sumon oversees art direction, and Masud Rana leads the makeup team.
Nazmul Huda Shapla produces the project under Jago Entertainment, with Masud Munsur as the executive producer and Uday Chowdhury managing coordination.
“Taka” is set to debut on November 20 on Jago Entertainment’s official YouTube channel.
