Mymensingh Division’s openers, Mohammad Naim and Mahfijul Islam Robin, displayed outstanding performances by scoring centuries on the first day of the National Cricket League’s (NCL) second round in Cox’s Bazar. Their remarkable partnership set Mymensingh in a commanding position against Rangpur Division.

Opting to bat first, Mymensingh got off to a roaring start with Naim and Mahfijul sharing a 220-run partnership for the opening wicket. Naim crafted a brilliant 111 runs off 163 deliveries, including nine boundaries and two maximums, securing his fourth first-class century. Meanwhile, Mahfijul notched up his maiden hundred, scoring 127 runs from 228 balls with 14 fours. These stellar performances guided Mymensingh to a strong total of 281 for two at the end of the day’s play.

On the other hand, at another venue in Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram Division asserted dominance with the bat against Barishal Division. Opener Sadikur Rahman showcased his best form, scoring an impressive 122 off 174 balls, while former national captain Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 84 runs as Chattogram reached 260 for four by stumps.

In Mirpur, Rajshahi Division’s spinners took control of the game, dismissing Khulna Division for a mere 121 runs. Nihaduzzaman and Meherob Hasan excelled with three wickets each, while Mrittunjoy Chowdhury top-scored with 23 runs. Rajshahi closed the day at 87 for three, trailing by 34 runs, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz claiming all three wickets.

Meanwhile, in Sylhet, only 43.1 overs were possible due to adverse weather conditions as Dhaka Division managed to reach 120 for five. Mahidul Islam Ankon remained unbeaten on 36 runs for Dhaka, while Sylhet’s pacers Ebadot Hossain (3-49) and Khaled Ahmed (2-25) shared the bowling honors.
