10-Member Committee Formed to Support BASIS Operations

A 10-member committee has been formed to support the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the country’s leading trade body for the software and IT services industry. The initiative aims to resolve the organization’s prolonged operational stagnation and restore momentum to its activities.

The committee was formed through an official order signed on Monday (27 October) by Mr. Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Administrator of BASIS and Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division. The order was issued under Section 18(2)(a) of the Trade Organizations Act 2022.

According to the directive, the committee will extend necessary assistance to the administrator as required. It clearly states that the committee will provide support only as determined and requested by the administrator. The order further mentions that the decision has been made effective immediately.

The newly appointed members of the committee are Mushfiqur Rahman of Spectrum Software and Consulting Ltd., Mostafa Rafiqul Islam of Flora Telecom Ltd., Md. Rowshan Kamal, Managing Director of Techsol Technologies Ltd., Belal Ahmed of Synergy Interface Ltd., Rashed Kamal of Databiz Software Ltd., AHM Rokmunur Zaman Rony of HR SoftBD, Muhammad Abdul Majid of Bangla Puzzle Ltd., Md. Jewel of Lemise Ltd., Ferdous Alam of Atova Technology, and Syed Zahid Hossain of Meet Expert.

Commenting on the new committee, BASIS founding member and Managing Director of Flora Telecom Ltd., Mostafa Rofikul Islam Duke, said “This committee brings together experienced and capable professionals. We believe that through joint efforts from both long-standing and new members, BASIS can move forward with renewed strength. Our priority is to enhance the organization’s efficiency and impact so that BASIS continues to play a meaningful role in the development of the country’s ICT sector.”

Another committee member, Engr. Md. Jewel, Proprietor of Lemise Ltd., shared “Due to legal and administrative complications, BASIS had been inactive for a long period. The Administrator has taken a timely step by forming a well-structured advisory committee. Our immediate focus is to restore full functionality, streamline member services, and implement necessary reforms. We aim to help facilitate a fair and acceptable election at the earliest opportunity.”
