Woman’s simple tomato ketchup hack will leave your sink sparkling clean

-

Stubborn stains in your sink could be a thing of the past, as cleaning aficionados have discovered that tomato ketchup is an excellent stain remover.

The simple viral hack involves smearing the acidic sauce over the stained area, leaving it for an hour, and then wiping it off to reveal a gleaming surface. While it may seem odd, this method is effective on both taps and sinks.

The trick has been widely praised online, especially in the popular Facebook group Mums Who Clean. One member posted: “Whoever came up with the tomato sauce tap hack, you’re a genius. Have tried everything, and nothing worked like this. No scrubbing, no effort. I’m blown away.”

Others in the group were quick to back up her experience, sharing their own positive results. One commenter said: “I just put it all around the base, left it overnight and rinsed it off and cleaned as normal. It was perfect.”

Another exclaimed: “OMG it’s amazing mine was terrible. Left it overnight,” and yet another planned to try it out: “OMG, I haven’t heard of this before. I will be giving it a go tomorrow.” In addition to sinks and taps, ketchup is also touted as a rust cleaner for metal appliances by fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, who have noted its effectiveness on stainless steel bins.

Luckily, there are numerous other solutions if you’d rather keep your ketchup on your plate. When it comes to cleaning your bins, baby oil, lemon juice and Coca-Cola could be just the ticket. For your sinks, this £1 trick could serve as a handy alternative.
