The Weeknd has achieved yet another milestone by becoming the artist with the most songs surpassing one billion streams on Spotify this week. His track “After Hours” from the 2020 album of the same name has crossed the one billion stream mark, making it his 18th song to join Spotify’s exclusive Billions Club. This accomplishment places The Weeknd ahead of Drake, who, despite being an early supporter of The Weeknd in his career, now trails with 17 songs in the same club.
Among the Weeknd’s other songs that have achieved this feat are popular tracks like “Blinding Lights,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy,” and “One of the Girls,” a collaboration with Blackpink’s Jennie and Lily-Rose Depp from his short-lived HBO series, The Idol. Notably, “Blinding Lights” holds the title as Spotify’s most-streamed song, garnering over 4.4 billion streams.
In addition to this success, The Weeknd is preparing for the release of his sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. Although the official release date is yet to be announced, the Toronto-based R&B sensation recently dropped the album’s lead single, “Dancing in the Flames.”
