Radio 2 star Debbie Greenwood endures six-night stay in hospital after being rushed to A&E

-

Radio 2 star, Debbie Greenwood, was rushed to hospital last week.

The broadcaster, 65, – who hosted a show for the station show in the late 80s – gave fans an update following her “unexpected” six-night stay to have treatment.

Taking to social media, she wrote: “A huge thank you to the amazing team at Kingston Hospital who looked after me so well for my unexpected 6 night stay. You were so, so kind, attentive, patient and cheerful.”

Explaining that the hospital in Kingston, Surrey, had been ” so busy”, she continued: “The hospital is incredibly busy – especially A&E. But still – what an NHS we have! Thank you, thank you.”

Following her health update, Debbie’s friends flocked to social media, sending their well wishes. One wrote: “Take care Debs, I hope you are on the mend” while another said: “Sorry to hear you’ve been in hospital Debbie. Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

Debbie made her debut on TV in the eighties, hosting shows including BBC Breakfast Time, now known as BBC Breakfast.

Current host, Jon Kay, recently revealed the former Miss Great Britain still has an original piece of the red leather sofa from her time on the BBC show.

Revealing he saw the memorabilia at Debbie’s house, he told viewers: “Last week I went to Debbie’s house. And it’s all true. Debbie Greenwood has a section of the original BBC #BreakfastTime sofa!”

Admitting it was only a ‘small part’ of the set, he continued: “OK, it’s only a small section. One seat.

“Debbie normally keeps it in her spare bedroom. But she puts it in her sitting room for us to film.”

Beaming with pride as she made a return to the show, Debbie added: “It means the world to me. That sofa changed my life. I’d never get rid of it. Imagine all the famous bottoms that have sat on it!”
