Premium Bond winners for January 2025 released as two £1million prizes handed out

-

The first Premium Bond results for 2025 have been released today – and two people are starting the year £1million richer.

There are two £1million Premium Bond prizes given out every month. The first £1million prize went to someone in Liverpool with the winning bond number 492XB861312. This person holds £37,025 in Premium Bonds, and they purchased their winning bond in March 2022.

The second person who is now £1million richer is from Gloucestershire. They won with the bond number 601RW421962, which they only bought in November 2024. This person holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Premium Bonds are a type of savings product run by National Savings & Investment (NS&I) but instead of earning interest, you’re entered into a monthly prize draw.

The prizes start at £25 and go up to £1million – but some months, you may not win anything at all. You get a unique bond number for every £1 invested, and the maximum you can have saved in Premium Bonds is £50,000. The odds of a bond winning each month are 22,000 to 1 for every £1 bond – but most prizes are for smaller amounts.

NS&I reduced its prize rate from 4.15% to 4% for its January 2025 draw. There will still be two jackpot prizes of £1million given away every month. The prize fund rate is described as the the nearest thing Premium Bonds has to an interest rate.

Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said: “We’re delighted to kick off 2025 by creating our first Premium Bonds millionaires of the year in Liverpool and Gloucestershire.”

You can use the NS&I online prize checker tool, or the Premium Bonds prize checker app, to see if you’ve won. If you’re a winner, you can have the money paid into their bank account, or reinvest it into new Premium Bonds. You should be emailed or sent a text message from NS&I if you’ve won.
