TV presenter Hayley Palmer revealed the sweet conversation she had with Paul Danan a few weeks before his death.
The Hollyoaks star passed away aged 46, with his management confirming the news on social media. Fans and friends rushed to pay tribute to the actor, including Katie Price, DJ Fat Tony and Dean Gaffney. Taking to Twitter, Hayley – who dated The Chase’s Mark Labbett – said he only recently invited her to a concert.
Hayley said: “I’m in absolute bits Love you forever Paul Danan. I can’t even believe the news.. I only spoke to Paul a couple of weeks ago! He invited me to a Prodigy Concert and I said ‘Paulieeee that’s not really my thing!.. and he said I knewwww it wouldn’t be!!!!!!’ Paul was a one off character, he was soooo funny!”
“We were great friends and did a Radio Show on Love Sport Radio together and I would fall off my chair with laughter! …. and he was one of the first to reach out to me when I wasn’t in a good place last year. Last message he said love you and I said love you back,” she continued.
On 16 January, Paul’s management released a statement announcing his death. They wrote: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of @pauldanan at just 46 years old. Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many.
“His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him. During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time.” Tributes quickly poured in for the beloved TV star.
Big Brother star Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace wrote on X/Twitter: “Paul Danan… a friend of mine… I’m so shocked and heartbroken…. my darling man… I will cherish all our happy memories.” Alongside a broken heart emoji, she added: “RIEP u beautiful amazing talented human.” Hollyoaks’ Chelsee Healey replied: “This is so sad.”
Dean Gaffney, known as Robbie Jackson in EastEnders, wrote on Instagram: “You had your demons but my god you had a heart of gold… RIP Mr Paul Danan.” Katie Price shared a pictyre of herself with Paul while they were on Loose Women, and simply wrote: “Wow just speechless and shocked many memories I’ll always remember. RIP.”
