Celebrity Love Island star Paul Danan is understood to have died after he ‘slipped and fell’ in a luxury apartment near Bristol, reports claim.

The 46 year old’s death was announced on Thursday this week, as his management shared a statement and paid tribute to Paul who was called a “beacon of light”. A statement read: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of @pauldanan at just 46 years old.

“Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many. His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him.

“During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time.”

Now it has been claimed that neighbours have said that an ambulance was called to a luxury flat near Bristol on Wednesday evening. The Daily Mail reports the TV star, who was best known for his role as Sol Patrick on Hollyoaks, ‘slipped and fell’. The Mirror has reached out to Paul’s representatives for comment.

Earlier this week Avon and Somerset Policeissued an update on Celebrity Love Island star Paul’s death. They said in a statement: “Officers attended a property in Brislington, Bristol, at around 5.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 January) where sadly a man in his 40s was declared deceased by paramedics.

“His family have been notified and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for people to respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read. “His death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a file for the coroner.”

Paul was due to appear in court over driving and drug offences the day his death was announced. He was set to enter a plea at Warrington Magistrates’ Court in Cheshire after being charged with being in possession of several bags of cocaine as well as a ‘quantity’ of cannabis, as said in court documents.

He was also accused of driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of drugs on October 2, 2024, in Warrington. Six months before his tragic death, Paul suffered a near-death experience as he fell ill with respiratory failure which he said was due to his addiction to vaping.

Paul ended up in intensive care and was also treated for pneumonia during his stay at Whipps Cross Hospital. The doctor issued a stark warning to the star, telling Paul that he could end up on oxygen if he smoked again.

Paul developed his vaping addiction after stopping cigarettes in 2021. The soap actor and reality star revealed he was under the impression that vaping was “healthier”. However, his addiction soon turned to vaping and he “got obsessed”. He said: “Everywhere I went I’d have my vape with me. I’d always have one in my hand, I would even go to sleep with it, like a comfort thing.”

He recalled of his hospital stay, blaming his admission on his vaping: “I was on a machine in ICU and ended up with pneumonia. My family were warned that I might not make it through the night. I’m so lucky.”

Paul was given a stern warning by his doctor, who explained to him that if he ever smoked again he could end up on an oxygen tank.
