‘My brilliant dehumidifier that’s banished mould and condensation falls to stunning price’

-

They say as you get older, you start to get more excited about boring things. What was once excitement about an upcoming night out is now – my dehumidifier.

It sounds exceptionally dull, and it is, but I cannot believe how fantastic the Russell Hobbs 10L dehumidifier has been since I bought it a while ago. It’s currently at an excellent price on Amazon – £89.99, significantly cheaper than Dunelm, where it costs £129.99.

Price checking website CamelCamelCamel shows that the average price of the dehumidifier sits at £125.35, while one year ago, it was priced as high as £169. In fact, over recent years, it’s only been slightly cheaper than it is now a couple of times at the back end of last year.

So, if you’re on the hunt for a solid dehumidifier, now could be the time to take the plunge. I’d heard people drone on about how great they are at banishing excess moisture and condensation but was never sure one was worth the investment – they aren’t especially cheap.

But after suffering with condensation on the windows over the winter months, and subsequently some mould developing on the blinds, I decided to give one a go. Enter the Russell Hobbs product which I’ve had for over a year now and couldn’t be without.

It is simply fantastic at removing the excess moisture in the air, banishing condensation and, in turn, halting any mould from forming. The other task it’s phenomenal at is helping to get clothes dry, especially over the colder months when that task often has to be done inside the house.

I detest the sight of laundry being draped all over the radiators, while running the tumble dryer quickly becomes a sickeningly expensive endeavour. That’s where the dehumidifier has been absolutely game-changing.

It works even quicker if you also have the heating on, though it does still work, albeit more slowly, when the temperature is lower. The only thing that can be a bit annoying is it isn’t the quietest, and while it does feature a ‘silent’ button, I’d say this only reduces the noise fractionally and definitely doesn’t make the machine silent.

I put it on overnight to stop the windows getting covered in condensation and actually quite like the white noise, but if that will bother you then it might be best to explore different options.

Elsewhere, if you’re on a bit more of a budget Amazon stocks a wide range of dehumidifiers, including the 2200ML Dehumidifier for Bedroom that’s currently discounted from £69.99 to £48.85. One of the impressed buyers said: “Great design and easy to use .Works really and has helped with damp in my bedroom, Highly recommend!”

Another continued: “The dehumidifier works well, looks great, and is not too loud! We are extremely happy with it and the issues we had with mould in the bedroom have gone away since using this product regularly.”

However, one of those less pleased did note: “Useless, I tested it for 3 days, and it didn’t change the humidity at all.”

You can purchase the Russell Hobbs 10L dehumidifier for £89.99 on Amazon or Dunelm for £129.99.
