Mum-of-five Katie Price has opened up about the pain she feels about her eldest son Harvey Price, 22, living away from home.
The 46 year old mum-of-five discussed her family life in a heartfelt episode of The Katie Price Show on her YouTube channel, which was filmed during the festive season. Harvey, who lives with partial blindness, autism, and Prader-Willi syndrome, features in the vlog via a moving FaceTime chat with Katie.
Katie reveals that 22 year old Harvey has been missing his mum deeply at one point, taking the phone to her step-dad Paul Price and telling him: “Harvey wants to tell us that he misses us and wants cuddles.”
In a touching FaceTime call, with Paul by her side, Katie reassures Harvey that she, along with ‘nanny and grandad’, will come to visit him soon to set up his Christmas tree and even hints at arranging a surprise visit from Barney the Dinosaur.
The star opened up about the heartache of seeing her son Harvey, who is 22, in distress, saying it’s “upsetting” because unlike other young adults his age who have their “own lives”, for Harvey, Katie is his world. Speaking to camera after the call ended, Katie admitted: “I hate it because he is at college – I only saw him two days ago and he apparently cried when I left – but what can I do?”
Continuing, Katie went on to explain: “Like, he’s three hours away so…. But I’ll see him again next week. That’s why we FaceTime every single day – it’s important he has his iPad but we’re going down [next week] and do his Christmas tree. He wants Nanny and Grandad there.”
Asked “does that upset you”, Katie then confessed: “yeah it’s not nice, but it makes it worthwhile when he comes home and I see him. That’s the thing, he’s 21. Normally a 21-year-old would be off doing things and I’m just his life. All he wants to do is see me. It is sad and I love it when he’s home but it’s also full-on when he’s home. He breaks things, smashes things and its such a busy time for me at the moment. I need to get Christmas presents and all that. So yeah, It is what it is. I love my Harvey bear.”
Elsewhere in the vlog, Katie candidly opened up about her relationship with her biological father, admitting that they don’t see each other often. Cosied up next to her stepdad, Paul Price, who she affectionately calls ‘dad’, Katie sported a vibrant red Christmas jumper and jolly antlers as she delved into her family dynamics.
Introducing Paul, who is married to her mother Amy, Katie shared: “I call him Paul, but he’s my dad. He’s been with me since I was three years old.” She then spoke about her biological father, saying: “I have got my real dad, who I call ‘dad’, but I only see him not that often, only because of life…There’s no problem, we all meet and we all have a laugh, but this is Price. This is where I get my surname from. Price is from Paul Price.”
The Brighton-born celebrity was back in the headlines on Monday after a remote court hearing concerning her bankruptcy, where it was revealed that she owes over £750,000 in taxes. The former glamour model, who recently graced the panto stage with Atomic Kitten’s Kerry Katona, faced bankruptcy for the second time in March when she failed to engage with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) regarding the hefty tax debt.
The court heard that the debt stems from “derives from self-assessments” for the tax years 2020-2021 and 2021-22, encompassing income tax, VAT, surcharges, and interest. In the wake of this financial turmoil, Katie has sold her notorious ‘Mucky Mansion’ in Sussex and moved into a more modest £1.2 million home, which Rightmove boasted as a “large detached family home with a south-facing plot backing onto countryside on the town’s eastern edge with views of the South Downs”.
