Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer stance with Napoli preparing for Man Utd talks

-

Alejandro Garnacho is open to a Napoli move as the Italian club begin working on a deal to land the Manchester United star.

The Italian club have already made moves to raid the Premier League side as they look to bolster their ranks in January. Napoli are set for a cash injection but need to source a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is poised to join PSG after making his desire to leave clear.

Antonio Conte and those from Naples have set their sights on Garnacho, whose future in Manchester remains unclear. His role under Ruben Amorim is still up in the air and the club’s financial situation means they are willing to listen to offers, even for their top assets.

Garnacho himself is receptive to an Italian switch, reports the Independent, and any potential sale would represent pure profit for the Red Devils as they look to remain on the right side of the PSR rules.

The two parties have discussed a fee, just short of the £40million mark, which was suggested by Napoli. However United want to bank a fee similar to the one that PSG have just paid for Kvaratskhelia, which is around £70m. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Garnacho found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons when he was dropped, along with Marcus Rashford, from United’s 2-1 win at Manchester City in December. Amorim said at the time it was due to “selection” reasons rather than an injury, but the Argentine has since returned to the fold.

Those at Old Trafford could see several of their leading lights leave this month with Sir Jim Ratcliffe making it clear they will listen to offers for any player in their squad as they attempt to iron out their financial situation.

Marcus Rashford is another man being linked with an Italian switch. His future in Manchester looks uncertain and AC Milan are among those keen on taking the forward on loan, although they face competition from other European outfits.

Kobbie Mainoo, another of their bright lights, is attracting interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The academy graduate enjoyed a breakout season last term and is in the midst of contract talks with the club as he seeks a major pay bump, which could prove an issue.
